Once upon a time.....
A little bit of background; In 2001 I started ‘Hay Chocolates’, whilst running my award winning catering business, Charlotte Roskill Catering Ltd. Although ‘Hay Chocolates’ was successful, my catering company became the busier of the two businesses so, I made the hard decision to close ‘Hay Chocolates’ saying I will be back! and here I am, having got out of catering after 30years, and retrained to be a chocolatier. While we’re not in Hay-on-Wye this time, you will find me making our own bespoke range of chocolates, on site, in my premises The Old Workshop, Brecon. Formerly Matthews the Jewellers.
For Hay Chocolates, I designed my own range of book related chocolate moulds, which I have dusted down and started making. BookWorms, historically our best seller. BookMark, BookEnds and big BOOK bar. These products are sporting some very smart new internet friendly packaging and are available to buy on line.
We also have an extensive and ever changing range of truffles and pralines on the counter in the shop. This is where my creative side comes into play, whether hand dipped, hand rolled, pralines or cocoa butter sprayed domes, its the flavour inside that counts.
Formerly the building was a jewellers, owned and run by the Matthews family.
Now we have purchased and revamped the shop into the delightful Brecon Chocolates. Situated just off the High Street, we always look forward to welcoming local residents and visitors to the area.
Although we are no longer the jewellers we hope that we can still add some additional sparkle to Brecon.
